Hey hey!!

I’m Slade (they/them), an New York based actor/interdisciplinary artist and recent BFA Drama graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. My journey as a performer began around four in my home town in North Carolina, where I could be found holding impromptu singing and dancing performances, and opening plays cast full of action figures, Bratz dolls, a cousin, maybe a fallen tree, and whatever odds and ends spoke to me in my grandma’s backyard.

I found that theatre satisfied my hunger for storytelling and expanded my understanding of the litmitless potential performance itself posseses, which subsequently lead me to an Arts focused track from high school to college.

During my time at UNCSA, I had the privellege of further exploring my ever evolving artistic voice within a, not so traditional, conservatory enviornment. I ended up falling in love with experimental/devised theatre and more recently Performance art. I unapologetically bring; my heart; unique experience; deep curiosity of “Being”; exploration of identity and expansion through community to every room any medium brings me too, all through a Queer Black lens.

In my free time you can find me: scouring the city for the best pastry or happy hour special, collaging, ceramic making when I can afford it and recently sun printing; consuming books, plays, series or film dealing with the occult and sci-fi; at a dance theatre performance or instillation; blissfully exhausting myself at the gym, club, dance class, or simply walking from midtown to my home in Harlem because “I had the time to take in the world today”.
